The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the schedule for Australia's forthcoming senior women's tour of India on Friday (November 18).
Australia Women's India Tour Women's 2022 Squads: Due to their vast depth with bat and ball, Australia is one of the candidates for the showcase event. Australia will be a challenge even without regular skipper Meg Lanning. Alyssa Healy will captain the team in her absence.
Schedule for the Australia Women's Tour of India in 2022 - Three Women Test, Three Women's One Day International (WODI), and Three Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches against the Australia Women's cricket team are planned to commence on Friday, December 09, 2022.
The Australia Women's Tour of India 2022 will include 5 T20s matches hosted by India between December 9 and December 20, 2022. The final match between India Women and Australia Women will be placed on December 20, 2022, at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
The first two games will be contested on December 9, 11, and 14, at D.Y. Patil Stadium. The remaining three T20Is will be played at CCI-Brabourne Stadium on December 17 and 20.
This is the first meeting between India and Australia since the latter defeated the former in a close-fought final at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
In a 15-player roster rich on speed possibilities, Australia has three possible debutants.
Shelley Nitschke has been appointed as Australia's full-time head coach, following an interim stint during the Commonwealth Games, and she will be assisted by two new assistants, Scott Prestwidge and Dan Marsh.
adolescent batter Ex-Ireland sprinter Phoebe Litchfield Kim Garth and Heather Graham, both all-rounders, are expected to make their Australian T20I debuts.
Meg Lanning, Rachael Haynes, and Amanda-Jade Wellington have been replaced by the new trio.
The pace-heavy squad was named to assess options ahead of the World Cup in South Africa, as well as as a precautionary measure after a number of quicks suffered niggles throughout the WBBL.
While there are slots open in Australia's batting order to replace Lanning and Haynes, who were generally named at Nos. 3 and 5, respectively, the national team is anticipated to fill those positions with players who are already regular squad members.
McGrath and the in-form Ashleigh Gardner might be promoted, while Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland, who were part of the Commonwealth Games team but did not play, made good arguments for returns with solid WBBL performances.
Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana, India's all-rounders, will be absent owing to undisclosed injuries, but no cause has been given for Rana's absence.
Formal guidelines
Australia won Commonwealth Games gold in the penultimate T20I, defeating India by nine runs in a dramatic final at Edgbaston in early August.
Australia has won all eight completed T20Is in 2022, however, four matches have been called off due to rain.
This year, India has been more active, playing 20 T20Is and winning 13 of them. After the Commonwealth Games, they lost 2-1 to England in a T20I series in September before winning the T20 Asia Cup, defeating Sri Lanka in the final.
Harmanpreet Kaur will take the helm.
Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the Indian eves in their first match after winning the Asia Cup T20 2022 in Bangladesh. The Women in Blue won the continental title for the seventh time, defeating hosts Bangladesh in the final. Several young and experienced players performed admirably in this year's event, which was played in a T20 format.
Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues were India's greatest takeaways in the event, and the two will be hoping to continue the trend.
Australia will be led by Healy.
Alyssa Healy, Australia's ace wicketkeeper-batter, has been selected vice-captain for the December tour of India.
With World Cup-winning captain Meg Lanning currently on extended leave, Healy might take over as captain for the team's forthcoming tasks.
Currently, all of Australia's top female cricketers are competing in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). The elite domestic event will serve as an excellent preparation for Australia's difficult tour of India.
Australia is playing its first series since winning gold at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August.
All five matches will be held in Mumbai, with the first two taking place at D.Y. Patil Stadium on December 9 and 11, and the following three at Brabourne Stadium on December 14, 17, and 20.
They will be the first Australian women's side to play at D.Y. Patil Stadium in western Mumbai, although key players of the squad have previous experience at Brabourne Stadium, which held a T20I tri-series in March 2018 with India and England.
