Suresh Raina Back in IPL as A Commentator Alongside Ravi Shastri

Suresh Raina, who has made a big name in the cricket and named as ‘Mr. IPL’ for many years is back in IPL 2022 15th season but not as a player of the franchise, as a commentator of the league along with Ravi Shastri. Star Sports have signed Raina for their Hindi commentary team according to a report in ‘Dainik Jagran.’ Well for the first time Suresh Raina will not be the part of the squad of any franchise as he was not acquired by any team during the IPL auction which was held in February this year. And he was also not considered for replacement by any team though many players backed out from different teams. It was quite astonishing for Raina’s fans as well when Chennai Super Kings or any other team didn't obtain him, although he was a part of CSK for the last 12 seasons. And he is also a marvelous player and was also awarded ‘Best fielder’ by the BCCI.  However, there was quite a hustle on social media that Raina may replace Jason Roy in Gujarat Titans but it wasn’t executed. If we talk about Ravi Shastri, ‘the former head coach of the Indian cricket team who didn't continue as a coach after the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup in India. However, he was given an offer to be the coach in IPL 2022 by one of the two new teams but things didn't work out. Now Shastri will make a comeback as a commentator for the 1st time after being the head coach for 7 years, he is approached for Hindi commentary. It will be a new experience for Shastri as he is more of an English Speaker. According to a source from IPL in a press release, “You all know that Raina won’t be a part of the IPL this time but we somehow wanted to link him with the tournament. He has a massive fan following and there is a reason why he is known as Mr. IPL. As for Shastri, he was part of the Star Sports English commentary team. But he didn't commentate after the final of Champions Trophy in 2017 as he became India’s head coach.” Concurrently, Shastri is taking training in the Hindi Language by tuning in to Hindi Lessons on Zoom from an expert and he is also practicing Hindi Commentary for the forthcoming season of IPL. Apart from Ravi Shastri and Suresh Raina, Aakash Chopra, Irfan Pathan, Gautam Gambhir, Parthiv Patel, Nikhil Chopra, Tanya Purohit, Kiran More, Jatin Sapru and Suren Sundaram are also the part of Hindi Commentary team.
