He also became just the fourth player in ODIs to score a century before lunch on debut, after Vivian Richards (West Indies), Hashim Amla (South Africa), and David Warner (Australia). The previous highest team total in a World Cup knockout game was 366 by West Indies against England at Edgbaston in 1999: Australia set an all-time World Cup record when they scored 370/5 against Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge. They surpassed West Indies' previous high of 366 for 5, set back in 1999 when they beat England by one wicket at Edgbaston. This is also their highest total ever against Sri Lanka; their previous best was 359 for 7 at Sydney during the 2015 World Cup.
