The biggest and the most grandest football tournament in the world, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

QATAR:

On March 27, 1970, the Qatar national team played its first official match against Bahrain, losing 1-2 with Mubarak Faraj scoring the only goal for Qatar. Soon after, Qatar was one of four founder nations invited to compete in the biannual Gulf Cup event.

In 1977, the national squad played its first FIFA World Cup qualification match. Qatar made its Asian Cup debut in 1980.

Qatar's national team arguably peaked in the 1990s, when it narrowly missed two World Cup qualifying tournaments (1990, 1998) in the final rounds, achieving its highest-ever FIFA ranking (53) in August 1993.

Qatar's first big achievement occurred in 1992 when the "marrons" won the 1992 Gulf Cup. A youthful squad led by the team that had impressed months earlier in the 1992 Summer Olympics dominated the tournament, giving Qatar the opportunity to finally win the long-awaited regional trophy.

The Gulf Cup encouraged the resurrection of a new generation of young Qatari players in the 2000s. In the midst of a moment of uncertainty, Qatar grasped the chance and won the tournament when Doha hosted it in 2004.

2014 was without a doubt one of the most successful years for football in Qatar, with the senior squad winning both the West Asia Football Federation and the Gulf Cup titles in addition to being Asian U-19 champions.

Qatar had an outstanding performance at the 2019 Asian Cup 2019. In their first game, they defeated Lebanon 2-0. This was followed by a 6-0 thumping of North Korea and a 2-0 victory against three-time winners Saudi Arabia, securing the team's first-place finish in the group. They overcame Iraq 1-0 in the Round of 16 and defending runners-up South Korea late in the quarter-finals to go to the semi-finals for the first time ever, where they defeated hosts United Arab Emirates 4-0 to set up a final against four-time champions Japan.

Qatar won the final 3-1 over Japan, claiming their first major tournament championship and finishing off one of the most unlikely Asian Cup campaigns in tournament history, especially given that they surrendered only one goal in all of their games.

Ecuador:

Ecuador's national football team has competed in three FIFA World Cups, the world's greatest football competition for national teams, with a fourth appearance scheduled for 2022. Their finest result came in 2006 when they lost in the Round of 16.

The Ecuador national football squad (Spanish: Selección de ftbol de Ecuador) is administered by the Ecuadorian Football Federation and represents Ecuador in men's international football (FEF). They became members of FIFA in 1926 and CONMEBOL the following year.Ecuador did not compete in the first FIFA World Cup, which was hosted in Uruguay, and did not make their tournament debut until 2002. After placing ahead of Brazil and Uruguay in the rankings, Ecuador's qualifying campaign saw the development of numerous players, including Agustn Delgado, Lex Aguinaga, Iván Hurtado, Ulises de la Cruz,  Iván Kaviedes, who would pave the way for the country's success over the another decade. After reaching the Round of 16 in the 2006 World Cup, they were anticipated to produce in the 2007 Copa América, but were ousted in the group stage. They, like Venezuela, failed to win the continental championship.La Tri's best finish was fourth in 1959 and 1993, all on home soil.

The bulk of Ecuador's home matches are played at the Estadio Olmpico Atahualpa in Quito. It was scheduled to be razed in late 2020 to make room for a newer, more contemporary arena.

The Netherlands struggled in the new Nations League season without Ronald Koeman, joining Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Italy. After a tough encounter in which Poland played very defensively against the Netherlands, the Netherlands prevailed 1-0 at home thanks to Steven Bergwijn. However, the Netherlands were defeated by Italy by the same score at home, and the Dutch lost their advantage as well. The Netherlands eventually improved, winning critical home games against Bosnia and away games against Poland, but a poor away tie against Bosnia proved essential. Despite a great performance in their last group encounter against Italy, the match in Bergamo ended in a tie. However, the then-Minister of Social Security and Sports denied the offer since the budgetary allocation was not approved.

Senegal

The Senegalese Football Federation operates the Senegalese national football team (French: Équipe de football du Senegal), nicknamed the Lions of Teranga, which represents Senegal in international association football.

Senegal, one of Africa's most recognised national football teams, reached the quarter-finals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, becoming the continent's second side to do so (after Cameroon in 1990). They stunned the incumbent world champions France, finished second in their group, and defeated Sweden in extra time in the round of 16, before falling to Turkey in the quarter-finals.

Senegal's first appearance in the Africa Cup of Nations occurred in 1965, when they finished fourth after losing 1-0 to Ivory Coast. They hosted the 1992 African Cup of Nations, when they reached the quarter-finals, and won their first AFCON in 2021, defeating Egypt in the final.

In the quarter-finals, Senegal met Equatorial Guinea. Famara Diédhiou scored for the Lions following a feed from Mané half an hour into the game, and Senegal went on to win 3-1. Senegal met Egypt in the final after defeating hosts Cameroon in the semi-finals. Mané scored the winning penalty in a penalty shootout, giving Senegal its first Africa Cup of Nations victory. Senegal returned home and took part in a victory parade in Dakar, the capital. It became the largest party in the country's history.

Senegal met Egypt again following the AFCON final, defeating them on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate tie to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Mané eliminated Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah by converting the game-winning penalty a second time.

Netherlands

Since 1905, the Netherlands national football team (Dutch: Het Nederlands Elftal) has represented the country in international men's football matches. The men's national team is managed by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), the Netherlands' regulatory body for football, which is a member of UEFA and is governed by FIFA. They are largely recognised as one of the best national teams in the world, as well as one of the greatest national teams of all time. The Johan Cruyff Arena, De Kuip, Philips Stadion, and De Grolsch Veste host the majority of the Netherlands' home matches.

The squad is colloquially known as Het Nederlands Elftal or Oranje, after the House of Orange-Nassau and their unique orange uniforms. Informally, the squad, like the country, was dubbed Holland. Het Oranje Legioen is the name of the fan club (The Orange Legion).

The Netherlands has participated in eleven FIFA World Cups, reaching the finals three times (in 1974, 1978 and 2010). They also competed in twelve UEFA European Championships, winning the event in West Germany in 1988. The squad also won bronze medals at the Olympic football event in 1908, 1912, and 1920. The Netherlands has traditionally had football rivalry with Belgium and Germany.

England:

England has been placed in Group B of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with Iran, the United States, and Wales. England made it to the finals of the EUROS 2020 event, but were defeated by Italy. This near approach with an international trophy has made England supporters and players even more eager to raise an international trophy and will be extremely driven to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

England will be hoping to avenge their setback in the 2020 EUROS Final. All England supporters believed their quest for an international trophy would be over as England advanced to the finals of the 2020 EUROS competition, but it was not to be as they were defeated on penalties by Italy.England will try to make a return in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and eventually go all the way this time and win the tournament.

England has only ever won the FIFA World Cup once. England's national team accomplished this accomplishment in 1966. England hosted the 1966 FIFA World Cup. England was placed in Group 1 with Uruguay, Mexico, and France. England topped the standings after victories against Mexico and France, as well as a draw against Uruguay. England then defeated Argentina in the tournament's first knockout round.

This aided their advancement to the Semi-Finals. England met Portugal in the semi-finals and defeated them 2-1 to advance to the 1966 FIFA World Cup finals alongside West Germany. The finals battle was one for the ages, with the game going into extra time when Wolfgang Weber equalised in the 89th minute to make it 2-2.

Although West Germany were able to force extra time, they could not keep England at bay for long as two goals by Geoff Hurst in extra time saw him complete his hat trick and lead England to their first and only FIFA World Cup Trophy.

Iran:

Azmoun, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, tore a calf muscle in early October and will be battling to be fit for Iran's opening encounter.
