All the Details on the Upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar

The FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar will be the 22nd FIFA World Cup, an international men’s football tournament that is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022. The bidding process to host the tournament ended on 11 April 2010, and Qatar was selected by the FIFA Executive Committee as the host nation on 2 December 2010. The decision was made following an inspection visit in March 2010, when it was also determined that the Al Rayyan Stadium met all the minimum criteria set by FIFA at the time of the visit, despite requiring some further development work before hosting matches at the World Cup.

What is the format of the tournament?

The 2022 FIFA World cup will be a 32-team tournament. The teams will be grouped into 8 groups of 4, with 3 teams advancing to the knockout stage. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the round of 16, with a one-game playoff between third place and second place if they are tied. If they are still tied after 90 minutes, there will be 30 minutes of extra time followed by a penalty shoot-out if necessary.
