History of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 

The series is named after two smashing players India’s Sunil Gavaskar and Australia’s Allan Border. Combination of their names gave us electrifying Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is played between India and Australia. This spectacular rivalry has started on ground since 1996. 

Before the race for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, 50 test matches had taken place among India and Australia between 1947 to 1996. 

Schedule of IND vs AUS Test Cricket Series: 2023 

Border-Gavaskar Trophy was to be held between October – November 2022. But it is postponed because T20 World Cup organized in Australia in October 2022 and IND vs AUS test series is schedule to play in February and March 2023. 

Full schedule of the four-test match series of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023: 

  • First Test – 9-13 February at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur
  • Second Test – 17-21 February at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi 
  • Third Test – 1-5 March at Holkar Stadium in Indore.
  • Fourth Test – 9-13 March at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad 

All the four matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will start from 9:30 am IST.  

Earlier third test match of India vs Australia Series of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was scheduled to play at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala but due to harsh winter conditions in the region the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shifted the venue to Holkar Stadium, Indore.
