IND vs WI, Womens T20 World Cup 2023: Second Consecutive Victory

It’s again winning moment for Team India in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa. Women in Blue is doing magic in the field. Dashing India fought two matches in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 and finished them with the victory. India beat former champions West Indies by six wickets with 11 balls left spare in the 9th match of Group B in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.  

Its looking like India women has come South Africa to build milestones. In previous match of India vs Pakistan history was made as India became second highest run chaser in Women’s T20 World Cup history. Now in this match, Deepti Sharma made a new record. She has become the highest wicket taker for India in Women’s T20 World Cup. Deepti Sharma is the first Indian women who notch 100 wickets in the T20 format. Her fabulous game in the match made her won Player of the Match award in the presentation ceremony. 

Highlights: India vs West Indies, Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 

Enjoyable match started with a toss which was won by West Indies and they chose to bat. Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor started proceedings for the West Indies and Renuka Singh got the charge from India. In just second over Pooja Vastraka took a wicket for Team India. Though opener Stafanie Taylor managed to score 42 runs from 40 balls. Stafanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle contribution helped Indies to score for their team but Indian bowlers stop them at 118/6 in 20 overs. Indian women did a fantastic bowling. Deepti Sharma took 3 wickets while leaking only 15 runs. Pooja Vastrakar and Renuka Singh got one wicket each. 

Now it was turn of women in blue to show their power. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma opened for India with boundaries in first over. Chasing was looking easy for Team India but within seven overs they lost their top three batters. Later, chasing 119 runs was looking difficult. Then saviors of blues – captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh took over the charge. They created a fantastic 50 run partnership and made India women won once again by another successful chase.  

Points on Table 

Two out of two is what India is scoring right now in the 9th match of Group B in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. India has 4 points as they won both the matches against Pakistan and West Indies. Blues have a decent net run rate of 0.590 currently. India women stand in second number till now in the table of Group B of Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. England women hold first position while Pakistan women, West Indies women and Ireland women grasped third, fourth and fifth positions respectively in the table of Group B.
