There is great distress for Chennai Super Kings as their fast pacer and all-rounder Deepak Chahar suffered a severe, ‘Quadricep Tear' injury while performing in the Final T20I against West Indies last month in Kolkata. Well, the BCCI report said that ' Chahar will be out of IPL for first two weeks.' And after that, there were many speculations about his fitness updates.  Well, the next 48 hours will be quite significant for CSK, as they are waiting for the recent report from the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru regarding the recovery status of Deepak Chahar. This report only will give the final result of whether Deepak Chahar is in a condition to represent the Franchise in the 15th league of IPL. After the fitness report only, the decision of his replacement will be taken. According to the CEO of CSK: “We have not been contacted by BCCI or NCA regarding the status of Deepak Chahar’s injury. and are not currently considering a replacement. We continue to cross our fingers for final availability.” CSK incurred a huge expenditure of INR 14 crore, which is also the second most expensive in acquiring Chahar at IPL mega auction. Deepak Chahar has proved to be the productive powerplay bowler in the IPL by gaining 42 wickets to his side. Meanwhile, many Cricketers and IPL authorities have shared their opinions and suggested probable prospects for IPL 2022. Former New Zealand Spinner Daniel Vettori said in an  event, “ I don’t think  that Chahar should be replaced by any Domestic bowler, an International Player will be the right choice for replacement.” Vettori suggested the names of two fast Overseas bowlers Adam Milne and Chris Jordan” as Chahar’s replacement. Concurrently, Former Indian Opener Wasim Jaffer has also recommended some names as a replacement like Tushar Deshpande, Simarjeet Singh, and Mukesh Choudhary. Jaffer said, “We could see MS Dhoni giving confidence to the younger guys, the uncapped guys whether it’s Tushar Deshpande, Simarjeet Singh who bowls for Delhi in the powerplay [or] Mukesh Choudhary – he’s a left-arm who bowls at decent speeds… The Mumbai wickets will need a little bit of pace so these guys can bowl.” After that Cricketer turned commentator Akash Chopra also said, There is no replacement for Chahar, If there would be a suitable replacement for Deepak Chahar, he would not be bought at such a huge price of 14 crores. Adding on to it he said, “Yes, you will be missing a lot of wickets in the powerplay overs but is that the only way to succeed in a T20 game? Yes, it is an important component – you pick up early wickets and suddenly you’ve got a fantastic start. But isn’t there another formula to do well as a team?” Well, Deepak Chahar has proved to be a great player for CSK, and if he is unable to play it will be a cause of worry. So, let’s pray he will recover soon and come back to show his performance.
