Highlights of the final match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023

In the final match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney took strikes for Australia, and Mlaba took the first ball from the side of South Africa.

Australia played at a low pace until the power play. The Kangaroos had scored 25 runs in four overs before losing Alyssa Healy's wicket in the fifth over. Alyssa scored 18 off 20 deliveries, which led to a score of 36/1 in 6 overs. After the weak power play, Beth Mooney and Ash Gardner played a wonderful 46-run partnership. Gardner made 29 runs off 21 balls before leaving the field. After the wicket of Ash Gardner, Australia started losing its lineup of batters.

Beth Mooney, the Kangaroo’s savior yet again, regained her form for the team and helped Australia to score 34 runs in the final three overs. In the critical scenario, Beth Mooney showed magic with her bat by scoring 74 off 53 deliveries. Mooney remained not out till the last over and contributed her runs to make a competitive score of 156/6 in 20 overs.

Ismail and Kapp took two wickets each, while Mlaba and Tryon took one wicket each for South Africa.

South Africa took the field for the final chase of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits took the charge in chasing 157 for their team. Megan Schutt opened for Australia.

The Proteas women got off to a slow start, scoring only 13 runs in four overs. Also, opener Tazmin Brits got out in the fifth over while making only 10 runs for the team. South Africa scored a low total of 22/1 in 6 overs, and their problem increased as they were not able to score a satisfactory number on the scoreboard until the 10th over. In the last 10 overs, South Africa needed 105 runs. However, Australia's bowlers prevented them from scoring the winning runs, limiting South Africa to 137/6. Hence, Australia had won the electrifying match with their supreme talent.
